Monero is an Open Source cryptocurrency that aims at being used as an everyday form of payment
Unlike Bitcoin, due to its privacy nature, it's truly fungible, as in 1 xmr = 1 xmr so it can be used like cash without being discriminatory to certain addresses
It doesnt try to be something else like some tokens in the space, it just does what it does and does it very well.

The mining algorithm is RandomX which is meant to be mined on CPUs (available in everyday computers), making it hardware decentralized unlike Bitcoin that is on single purpose specialized hardware becoming e-waste after few months.

Blocksize is dynamic allowing cheap transaction fees, less than a $0.01, the more the network grows, the cheaper the fees are becoming (unlike Bitcoin with $20 transaction fees currently, making it unusable as an everyday currency)
